OTP Bank Albania

OTP Bank entered Albanian banking market in 2018, where Societe Generale announced the sale of its shares in Societe Generale Albania to OTP Group, a process that was successfully completed in March 2019.

We took another significant step in July 2022, where the OTP Group announced the completion of the transaction for the acquisition of Alpha Bank Albania, following on the successful finalization of the legal merge on December 1, 2022. As a result, OTP Bank Albania further strengthens the position of in the Albanian market, leading it as the fifth largest bank in the country in terms of assets and the third in terms of loan portfolio.

OTP Bank Albania is acknowledged by “The Banker” with two prestigious awards such as “Bank of the year 2022” and “Bank of the year 2023”, which is the best certification of our commitment to continuous development.

For the fourth consecutive year, we are crowned by Euromoney as the “Best Bank in Albania for 2023” with outstanding financial results and developments. These achievements reinforce the status of our bank as a leading financial institution in the country, known for quality service, innovative solutions and commitment to our customers.

Since our last rewards, we have launched the first set of online banking enhancements, giving both business and individual customers’ access to a more sophisticated online platform. The amount of digital products, such as bill payment via QR code, digital signature, and card management, will increase thanks to a second round of upgrades that are being developed. The bank is in the 3rd phase of another important project – a lending tool that enables end-to-end credit flow management in a digital environment, and has launched strategies related to the segment of agriculture and loans for housing purchase.

Demonstrating the bank’s growing importance in the country, we have also been selected as Albania’s leading Eurobond issuer for the last decade.
